  • NEXT GENERATION BLUETOOTH LE AUDIO

An update to the existing Bluetooth audio technology, Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) technology has some important new features and improvements.

Classic Audio operates on the Bluetooth Classic radio while LE Audio operates on the Bluetooth Low Energy radio. LE Audio not only supports development of the same audio products and use cases as Classic Audio, it introduces exciting new features that promise to improve their performance and enable the creation of new products and use cases.

LE AUDIO OFFERS 3 NEW FEATURES

MULTI-STREAM AUDIO

Multi-Stream Audio, is a new feature included in LE Audio, enables the transmission of multiple, independent, synchronized audio streams between an audio source device and one or more audio sink devices.

Using this new feature, developers can improve the performance of truly wireless earbuds, including a better stereo imaging experience, more seamless voice control services, and smoother switching between multiple audio source devices, such as when a headset is simultaneously connected to both a smartphone and laptop.

AURACAST™ BROADCAST AUDIO

Auracast broadcast audio will let you invite others to share in your audio experience, bringing us closer together. With Auracast broadcast audio, a single user can share their audio experience with multiple users at the same time.

Broadcast audio also helps to deliver audio experiences in supported public events such as museum tours multi-screen streams, and even business conferences, which will enhance the public’s satisfaction as well as increase in accessibility.

LOW COMPLEXITY COMMUNICATION CODEC (LC3)

LC3 is a successor to the SBC (Subband Coding) codec, which was commonly used in Bluetooth audio applications. The new LC3 uses about half the data for even higher perceived audio quality. It is possible to reduce the bitrate even lower without losing much perceived audio quality.

With LC3, the audio quality of the content being streamed to your wireless headphones or earbuds is improved.
