HOW to Cast Sirius to HOLOWHAS multi-room streaming amplifier
On October 9, Frank Zivis asked us a great question: “Can you stream Sirius with the HoloWhas device?” We think other customers might be wondering the same thing. So, we’re planning to publish a blog post about it. This way, we can address the question in a way that’s helpful not just for Sirius, but for other services too.
There are actually three ways to do this:
1/Using the AirPlay2 feature in the Sirius XM app.
2/Using the native AirPlay2 feature on your phone.
3/Using Sirius’ own proprietary transmission protocol.
Using AirPlay2 is actually the simplest and most convenient way.
- Does the Sirius XM app support AirPlay output?
- The Sirius XM app installed on an iPhone or iPad generally supports AirPlay.
- While playing content, you can select an AirPlay output device from the Control Center or within the app to stream the audio to an AirPlay-enabled speaker or receiver.
- How to operate
- Ensure that your phone and the AirPlay receiver are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Sirius XM player and play the channel you want to listen to.
- Tap the AirPlay icon in the Control Center (or within the app) and select the target device.
- The audio will be streamed from your phone to the receiver via AirPlay.
Conclusion: In most cases, you can stream Sirius XM content from your phone to an AirPlay receiver using AirPlay, as long as the devices support AirPlay and are on the same network. However, some DRM content may have restrictions.
